Lumped Parameter Modeling of SAE J2601 Hydrogen Fueling Tests

The safety of hydrogen storage is essential for the development fuel cell vehicles. A mathematical model a compressed tank established based on mass conservation equation, energy equation and real gas state. Using Matlab/Simulink platform, dual-zone lumped parameter model, which divides into zone wall zone, established. initial conditions MC Default method filling from SAE J2601 are utilized in numerical simulation. Five cases studied, including two different tanks. One case used Lookup table refueling, four fueling. temperature, pressure state charge obtained during fueling process. simulated results show that can well predict (SOC) Type IV tanks with volumes 249 L 117 refueling. By using averaged heat transfer coefficient (80 W/(m2·K)) between wall, constant (20 environment, temperature our good agreement experiment. maximum difference experimental temperatures five around 2 °C. were measured external surface tank, while representative mean alone radial direction.
